Cardiovascular health is a leading concern for many adults. It is a complex system that involves many different organs including the heart and blood vessels. It also involves key indicators of cardiovascular function, including blood lipids (cholesterol and triglyceride levels), blood pressure, circulation, cardiovascular inflammation, heart rhythm, and arterial function. The complexity of this system requires a strategy that can address all of these key areas of cardiovascular health simultaneously. Triplichol provides a comprehensive, “smart” combination of well researched ingredients to support healthy blood lipids, maintain normal blood pressure levels, and provide antioxidant protection for healthy blood vessel function.
Triplichol is a targeted combination of four high-concentration formulas specifically designed to support three key areas of cardiovascular health: blood lipids, blood pressure levels, and healthy arterial function. Each convenient, easy-to-take packet includes: Time-Release Niacin, which provides controlled-release vitamin B3, the most effective and versatile nutrient for supporting healthy cholesterol levels and promotes the production of healthy high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Orthomega Select DHA, which includes a powerful, 5:1 docosahexanoic acid (DHA) to eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) fish oil concentrate delivering 580mg of DHA, the specific component of fish oil proven to maintain healthy triglyceride levels, balance blood pressure within normal ranges, and improve circulation. Plant Sterols, which provide 1,300 mg of phytosterols shown to limit the absorption of dietary cholesterol and balance blood cholesterol levels within normal ranges. The Phytonutrient Antioxidant Capsule includes resveratrol, red wine concentrate, green tea extract and quercetin, a potent antioxidant blend shown to decrease cholesterol oxidation and protect arterial function.
2 packets per day, one in the AM and one in the PM or as recommended by your health care professional
Time Release Niacin
Niacin has been used since the 1950s to maintain a healthy balance of cholesterol levels. Since 1978, researchers have labeled niacin a “front-line” nutrient for cardiovascular support. The National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) panel designated niacin a “first-line therapy” for support of specific parameters related to balancing cholesterol levels. One side effect often makes supplementing niacin a less than pleasurable experience, as some patients experience; however, a properly-manufactured, sustained release niacin circumvents this side effect. By using a proprietary, natural wax-matrix coating technology, this formulation of Time-Release Niacin is released slowly over a seven to eight hour period to reduce flushing. This time period is considered the ideal window for releasing equal amounts of niacin into circulation to gain all of niacin’s lipid balancing benefits.
Orthomega Select DHA
DHA has been found to have positive effects on key aspects of cardiovascular health including balancing blood lipids, stabilizing cardiac function and increasing relaxation of arteries to help support normal blood pressure levels. Research has shown that 4 g/day of DHA has a significant impact on arterial health and maintains healthy blood pressure levels. In a systematic review of 11 randomized controlled trials, published between 1996 and 2011, which analyzed the association between DHA and changes in concentration of blood fat profile components; DHA supplementation was found to maintain healthy blood lipid levels and increase levels of good fats in people with cardiovascular concerns. DHA has also been found to enhance dilation of the arteries by decreasing the release of calcium within smooth muscle that causes arterial constriction.
Plant sterols are constituents of plants, which have a similar chemical structure to cholesterol. Most foods (fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and grains) contain a small amount of sterols. Because plant sterols are chemically similar to cholesterol molecules, they are able to block cholesterol absorption from the intestines, thereby helping to maintain healthy cholesterol levels in the blood. According to the FDA, “products containing at least 0.65 g per serving of plant sterol esters, taken twice daily with meals for a daily total intake of at least 1.3 g, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.”
Phytonutrients are naturally occurring plant compounds. In addition to being responsible for the color and smell of fruits and vegetables, new research is emerging regarding the many health-promoting effects of protective phytonutrients. Triplichol inlcudes a potent blend of phytonutrient antioxidants which have been specifically chosen for their ability to prevent lipid oxidation and promote cardiovascular health. Resveratrol, a phytonutrient found in grapes and blueberries, has been shown to support arterial health by inhibiting LDL oxidation. Resveratol has also been shown to help maintain healthy blood pressure by regulating the production of nitric oxide, a crucial vasodilating molecule. Quercetin is a naturally occurring flavonoid found in onions, apples, tea and wine. Quercetin plays a beneficial role in cardiovascular health by supporting healthy artery function and promoting a normal inflammatory process. Green tea has natural polyphenols called catechins which provide the potent antioxidant properties of green tea. Numerous studies have established a positive correlation between green tea consumption and cardiovascular health. Green tea polyphenols exert cardio- protective effects by helping to maintain healthy blood lipid levels, healthy blood pressure and inflammatory balance.
