Thyroid hormones are required for mitochondrial metabolism in every cell. Therefore, a deficiency in thyroid hormones can affect virtually all bodily functions, including metabolic rate, reproduction, hormone production, and brain function, as well as musculoskeletal, psychological and cardiovascular health.
Thyroid health issues are at near epidemic levels, but they don’t occur suddenly. As an independent pharmacist, you have an excellent opportunity to educate your patients on thyroid health principles and offer recommendations to help them avoid thyroid challenges before issues present.
